Have you ever found yourself staring at your wardrobe, feeling like you have nothing to wear? Do you struggle to put together outfits that truly reflect who you are? If so, you’re not alone! I used to struggle with finding my personal style, but the good news is that it’s never too late to start looking!
Here are some tips and tricks to help you define your personal style:
Get inspired
One of the best ways to define your personal style is to get inspired by others. Look at your favorite fashion icons, celebrities, or even just stylish people on the street. Take note of the looks that catch your eye and try to incorporate elements of them into your own wardrobe.
LTK is a great site to look to for inspiration! I have the links to most of my wardrobe on my profile, so go check it out!
Take stock and clean out your closet
Taking a close look at what you already own is a great way to define your personal style. You can identify the pieces that you love and wear often, as well as the ones that never see the light of day. This approach will give you a better idea of the styles that make you feel most comfortable.
To keep my wardrobe fresh and make sure I am using everything in my closet, I go through it every season. I literally try on everything and donate anything that doesn’t fit my style anymore or that I can’t see myself wearing again.
It’s been really helpful separating items into a “keep” pile and a “donate/sell” pile. Whenever you are looking for the main items that you wear, and you happen to see something you realize you’ll never wear, toss it in the pile to come back to later!
Experiment with different styles
Don’t be afraid to try new things! Experimenting with different styles and trends can be a great way to figure out what you like and what you don’t. If you’re not sure where to start, try incorporating one new trend or style element into your wardrobe at a time.
Sometimes I’m feeling cozy with my Hot Shot Onesie from Free People. Sometimes I’m feeling sporty with my YPB sculptLUX Mini Dress from Abercrombie & Fitch. However, across all my styles, I’m always COMfy!
Find your signature piece
Many people have a signature piece that they feel defines their personal style. This could be anything from a statement necklace to a favorite pair of shoes. Once you identify your signature piece, you can build your wardrobe around it.
We can all agree that comfort is key. A good pair of leggings or bike shorts can compliment any outfit, and you can dress them up or down. Matching sets also have the power to transform your look. That’s why I love my matching Cloud II scoop bra and pants set by Vitality!
Stay true to yourself
Above all, it’s important to stay true to yourself when defining your personal style. Don’t feel like you have to conform to a certain look or trend just because it’s popular. Your personal style should be a reflection of who you are, so embrace what makes you unique!
