Curating a Wardrobe You Love

A new season means a new wardrobe, but where do you even start? I can’t begin to describe how overwhelming it can be, but it doesn’t have to be. I’ve learned that if you do a little research beforehand, finding the wardrobe that says, “THIS IS ME” is a lot easier.

Find your style

I always ask myself: what do I like? What don’t I like? What’s trendy? What’s unique? A quick search through my go-to for finding new styles and inspirations, Pinterest, can answer these questions. There are thousands of people dedicated to fashion and bringing different ideas and styles to life.

Check your current wardrobe as well. My go-to looks are athleisure and “comfy cali girl” (as pinterest says), so obviously they are a part of my overall style.

My versatile, multi-look wardrobe staples:

Urban Outfitters Cropped Tee, A&F Boyfriend Shorts, The Drop Cropped T-shirt, and Vans Old Skool Skate Shoes

(L to R: Urban Outfitters BDG Arcadian Notch Neck Cropped Tee, Abercrombie Curve Love Mid-Rise Boyfriend Shorts, The Drop Women’s Sydney Short-sleeve Cropped Crew Neck T-shirt, Vans Old Skool Skate Shoe)

Find your color palette

What colors inspire you and best describe your personality? All of the colors? None of the colors? Perfect! You do you!

If you’re having trouble finding your colors, you could start by understanding how your hair color, eye color, and undertones play a role. If you’re like me (blonde hair, hazel eyes, and neutral/light undertones) you gravitate towards different shades of blues, greens, and pinks. That doesn’t mean you only have to stick to those shades – I love to rock a clean white tee, too.

There are so many color palette combinations that you don’t have to stick to just one. You can change it every year, season, or day!

Find your con-fit-ence

See what I did there? I’ve always found it so annoying that sizes can change from brand to brand. Some are close in size, but others are drastically different. The best way to find your size is by measuring yourself and going off the sizing charts many retailers provide. It’s all about trial and error!

Find your Brand

You probably already know how much I love Abercrombie and Fitch by my blog posts raving about their jeans. I’m the type of person who’s loyal to a few brands and that’s it. I just think it’s easier when I know I like the brand and it’s values, the quality of the clothes, and the way they fit.

Mik and Blue

Two Abercrombie styles I wear ALL THE TIME are the Curve Love High-Rise Mom Jean that I’m wearing here, and the Curve Love Mid-Rise Boyfriend Shorts. (For more recs and specs, check out my full Abercrombie Jean Review!)

Find your variety

With that being said, don’t be afraid to add some variety! No one wants to wear the same style everyday, so play around with different trends to avoid getting bored with your wardrobe. Lazy days, workout sessions, and date-nights all need their own mini-wardrobe of sorts. Having something comfy and cute for any occasion can give you the boost to really tackle your day.

Overall, your style depends on one thing: you! The most important thing is to feel confident in who you are.
