Haircare can be overwhelming! From shampoos, conditioners, at-home masks, serums, and volumizers, the options are endless.
Through mostly trial and error, I’ve discovered the products that work best for my hair. I’ve also had help along the way and have had many professional stylists recommend products for my specific hair type (I recommend consulting a professional before purchasing any product you have questions about💓).
For reference, I’ve included a few quick facts about my hair type.
- I’m naturally blonde, but I do visit my stylist for highlights on a regular basis because #selfcare
- I’ve had thin hair all of my life
- My hair is naturally straight, but it can hold a wave
If you are looking to try a different product or want to switch up your hair routine, check out my favorite hair care products to have felt like you just left the salon.
Blonde Hair Essentials
Kristen Ess Purple Shampoo and Conditioner
If you have blonde hair, incorporating a purple shampoo and conditioner into your routine is a must! Purple shampoo and conditioner are known to eliminate copper or brassy undertones to restore your bright, blonde hair. After every use, it feels like I just left the salon with fresh highlights.
If you’re looking for a deep treatment to help restore those cool blonde tones, try dampening your hair in the sink before you shower, and covering your hair with the shampoo. Leave the shampoo on for about 10 minutes (I don’t recommend leaving it on any longer to prevent damage), then wash it out like you normally would. This makes my blonde pieces even brighter when I’m in need of some major color TLC.
Damage Control
Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray
Alright, y’all, if you have thin or brittle hair, this Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray is a lifesaver! It was recommended to me by a hairstylist in New York and it’s been part of my daily routine ever since.
I apply 2-3 sprays on my damp hair after showering to help me brush out my hair without any tangles, knots, or breakage.
Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3 Repairing Treatment
The Olaplex hair care line is a new obsession of mine! The Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3 Repairing Treatment is the BEST hair mask in the game. There are over 13,000 reviews on Amazon that agree with me! This mask is good for all hair types and is designed for damaged or compromised hair.
The No. 3 Repairing Treatment strengthens and protects your hair while restoring the appearance and texture of your natural hair. I use this 2-3 times per week and it’s helped my hair grow and feel stronger than ever before.
Dry Shampoo
R&Co Dry Shampoo Paste
This product is for all of my ladies with thin hair. As you may or may not know, this dry shampoo paste from R&Co is my ride or die. This dry shampoo paste not only takes the oil and grease out of my hair, but it gives my thin hair SO. MUCH. VOLUME. One small tub lasted me for 8 months! It saves you so much money in the long run.
IGK First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo
If you have thicker hair, this dry shampoo might be a better solution than the R&Co Dry Shampoo Paste. This dry shampoo from IGK First Class is so versatile. Even though it uses charcoal to detox your scalp of oils and grease, it works on every hair color. An added bonus? You don’t need to use much to see results!
Texture
Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
This texturizing spray from Oribe is my guilty pleasure. It’s a bit more expensive than other texturizing sprays but do not let that stop you from trying it! I promise it’s so worth it. I use it as both my texturizing spray and hairspray (I’m putting this product to WORK). No matter the style or look you’re going for, this dry spray adds much needed grit and hold to your hair.
Tools
Kristin Ess 3-in-1 Straightener
This Kristin Ess 3-in-1 Straightener is my go-to because I’m able to use it like a flat iron, waver, AND curling iron. I love this straightener so much that I even have it in the travel size!
Hi I am interested to know how you use the dry shampoo paste? Only ever used spray. Thanks.
