Meet Blue. He’s an 8-month-old Merle Mini Bernedoodle. I took a leap of faith in September 2019 and became a dog mom. Owning a dog has been one of the best experiences of my life. Blue helps me stay active, relieves my stress and anxiety, and is basically my 4-legged best friend.

I’ll be honest, owning a puppy isn’t always a walk in the park (pun intended). It’s chaotic, messy, and expensive! You need so many supplies to get your home ready for a dog and the costs can really add up. My dog is priceless to me, so finding items that work for him and fit my budget is a top priority.

So, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite affordable puppy essentials under $50. All are available on Amazon Prime, so you can get them delivered without running to a pet store! Every item on this list has made my life as a pet owner so much easier – and they’re all approved by Blue.

Puppy Binkie (Kong) – $9.99

Teething can be super uncomfortable for pups. Plus, dogs instinctively want to chew on pretty much anything they can find. This binkie lets dogs develop good chewing habits and eases the pain of teething. This binkie has a small handle for easy grip and can dispense treats, which Blue loves. I bought the medium-sized one! Perfect for a dog Blue’s size.

Ottosson Puzzle Brick Dog Toy (Outward Hound) – $18.08

Ottosson’s Puzzle Brick toy is so. much. fun. It lets you hide treats in different compartments, and your dog has to solve puzzles in order to get them out. This is a great way to challenge puppies and satisfy their curiosity. This toy costs about $18 and has provided so much entertainment for both me and Blue.

Oxy Stain Remover (Rocco & Roxie) – $19.97

I love Blue, but he can be really messy. And smelly. Rocco and Roxie’s Oxy Stain remover has been a lifesaver for my floors and furniture. This formula is chlorine-free, non-aerosol, and is safe to use around pets. It’s also color-safe which means that it can be used on pretty much any surface (including car seats). I’ve said it before, but I truly think that investing in cleaning products pays off. This stain remover works miracles.

Dog Towel – Microfiber Super Shammy (ColorYLife) – $21.99

This super-absorbent towel is perfect for drying Blue off after his baths. It has pockets on both sides, which makes it easy to dry his fur thoroughly. This cozy shammy gets him dry faster than any other towel or blow dryer I’ve used. When you’re done, you can throw it in the washing machine for easy cleaning.

Pet Water Bottle for Dogs (lesotc) – $14.97

Blue loves long walks, especially in warm weather. I always want to make sure that he has plenty of water, so I take this water bottle along with us! It has a foldable cap that doubles as a bowl, so you can just squeeze the bottle to pour it up into the cap. This bottle is lightweight and takes up almost zero space. This water bottle has quickly become one of my essential items for any puppy.

MudBuster Portable Dog Paw Cleaner (Dexas) – $16.44

Puppy paws can get really gross. If you have an energetic dog, you know how hard it is to get them to sit still. Before you know it, there is mud all over the house. With this Portable Dog Paw Cleaner you just pour in a little water, guide your pup’s paw in, and gently twist it around their paw. This tool has silicon bristles that can remove mud from even the toughest spots. This item has saved my furniture more times than I can count.

Oatmeal Shampoo for Dry and Irritated Skin (CHI for Dogs) – $23.96 and Oatmeal Dog Conditioner (CHI for Dogs) – $19.96

Just like people, dogs can have sensitive skin! This oatmeal shampoo and conditioner from CHI is specially formulated for dry and irritated skin. These items cost a little more than most dog shampoos or conditioners, but it’s 100% worth it to make sure Blue feels healthy and comfortable.

Natural Training Dog Treats (Zuke’s) – $12.99

I am a total pushover when it comes to dog treats. I love Zuke’s Natural Dog Training Treats because they’re a healthy, all-natural reward for Blue! These are made in the United States with real, all-natural ingredients. These are the perfect size for training treats.

Stuff’N Easy Treat Paste (Kong) – $20.00

My puppy has toys that you can stuff with treats like cheese or peanut butter, but that gets messy fast. I love Stuff’N Easy’s Treat Paste because it’s a healthy, simple, clean way to treat Blue to the peanut butter that he loves.

Odor-Free Angus Bully Sticks (Best Bully Sticks) – $39.99

This is basically beef jerky for dogs. Blue loves it. These Bully Sticks are made with free-range grass-fed Angus beef, so I know that he’s getting healthy all-natural treats. They also help to scrape away plaque and tartar, so they help keep teeth healthy and clean.

Ultra Ball (Chuckit!) – $6.99

Chuckit! Ultra Balls are Blue’s favorite toy. These have a textured surface and firm rubber core, which makes them ideal for puppies to fetch and chew on. They’re also really lightweight and small, so I can keep them in my bag for a quick game of fetch while we’re on a walk.

Every puppy is different, so I encourage you to do your research and select items that work best for you and your pet.
