Halloween is just around the corner! If you’re still looking for the perfect costume, you’ve come to the right place. I’ve seen so many great costume ideas so far this year, so I wanted to make a list of my own! These are costumes inspired by iconic pop culture moments from childhood movie characters to incredible fashion moments.

Here are some fun and unique Halloween costumes to make this the year you look back on and say, “Wow, that was such a good costume!”

Single

Mia Thermopolis

Be Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo, Princess of Genovia, for a night! This costume is adorable because it takes me back to my childhood and watching The Princess Diaries. The nostalgia!

You can do either the school uniform Mia Thermopolis look or the iconic dress, shades and headphones style that everyone knows and loves. I’ve always loved Mia’s energy and vibe, so I’m really loving this idea.

What you need: Tiara, White gloves, Oval Sunglasses, Headphones, Dress, Boots

Roy Lichtenstein Painting

I saw this on TikTok and thought it was so creative! Even if you don’t recall the name of the artist, you’ve definitely seen a Roy Lichtenstein painting. Recreating the look seems really fun too. He was a pop artist in the 60s, so vibrant colors and a retro outfit are perfect for this costume!

But the main point of the entire costume is the makeup. He’s famous for using Ben-Day dots in his paintings which gave it a comic book feel. To really nail the look – and help people understand what you are – you need to cover your face in dots and define your facial features with lines. This could be time consuming, but trust me, you’re going to love it. It’s so simple, yet so unique.

What you need: Boat Neck Shirt, Polka Dot Skirt, Pearl Necklace, Red Pumps, Face Paint, Yellow Wig

Princess Diana’s “Revenge dress”

Who wouldn’t want to dress up as the bad-ass, Princess Di, for a night? This iconic look made some serious waves when she first wore it, but that was just the bad-assery of her. You can get creative with the look, but the main focus is the tight, black, off-the-shoulder dress and the gorgeous pearl choker.

Princess Di was known for her main iconic looks, so there are so many you could turn into the perfect costume, but none make a statement like this one does.

What you need: Dress, Pantyhose, Black Pumps, Pearl Choker, Pearl Earrings, Blonde Wig

Wednesday Addams

You can’t go wrong with Wednesday. This is a Halloween favorite every year, but it’s extra relevant right now with the new Netflix series coming out! It’s hard to picture Halloween without picturing Wednesday Addams in all her gothic glory.

Dark clothes, dark makeup and an even darker attitude are all you need to perfect this costume. Pair that with her famous sarcasm and one-liners and you’ve got yourself a Halloween costume to die for!

What you need: Dress, Black Mary Jane Heels, Pantyhose, Fenty Smoky Eyeshadow Palette

Olivia Rodrigo’s “Sour” album cover

Olivia Rodrigo has blown up in Pop Culture over the past few years. Radio stations played her music non stop over the summer and odds are even if you don’t listen to her music, you’ve seen her effortlessly bored/cool girl chic album cover.

Aside from the basic crop top and plaid skirt, what makes this costume stand out is the stickers! For this costume, you’ll need to cover your entire forehead, nose and the tops of your cheeks. The brighter the stickers the better to really make them stand out! Olivia has butterflies, stars, smiley faces and more covering her face, but you can choose whatever stickers inspire you!

What you need: Pink Crop Tank Top, Plaid Skirt, White Sneakers, Random stickers

Friends

Romy and Michele

It’s that time… your high school reunion is here! Grab your best girl friend and get glam in 90’s glory (with extra glitter), as Romy and Michele! Create a fake career/ life plan, and you’ll be ready to see all your old friends again. These costumes scream nostalgia, with high platform heels, satin feathered dresses, glitter hair clips, and silver choker necklaces.

What you need: Romy’s Dress, Romy’s Shoes, Michele’s Dress, Michele’s Shoes

Cosmo and Wanda

Grant wishes all around this Halloween as Cosmo and Wanda. The pair are instantly recognizable and are sure to bring back nostalgia for all the 90’s kids. Everyone wanted secret fairy godparents and unlimited wishes granted on your every whim as a kid. This is another costume pairing that can easily be added to a larger group with the addition of Timmy Turner or Cosmo and Wanda’s baby Poof!

This costume is simple, but reminds me of playing dress up as a kid with the crowns and wands. But lookout for Vicky while you’re running around this Halloween!

What you need: Pink Wig, Yellow Top, Green Wig, White Top, Black Tie, Black Skirt, Black Thigh High Boots, Crowns and Wands

Girl Scouts

A cute, easy and fun group costume! This costume can be pulled together from pieces most of us already have in our closet. All you’ll need is a white long sleeve shirt, tucked into a tan skirt, white socks, and white chuck taylors or sneakers of your choice. Add a sash and patches and you’re all set. Bonus points if your sash is authentic!

Extra bonus points if you bring actual Girl Scout cookies with you because who doesn’t love Girl Scout Cookies? I know I have a box around here somewhere..

What you need: Tan Skirt, White Long Sleeve, Sash, Patches, White Socks, White Chuck Taylors

Annie and Hallie

Who didn’t wish they had a long lost twin growing up after watching this movie? Grab your best friend and pretend to be this iconic chaos causing duo for a night! This is a perfect costume for my red headed girlies as well! If you’re going in a group and someone needs a last minute costume, easily add Chessy, Meredith Blake, or Elizabeth James to the gang with items you already have in your closet. (Gecko on a water bottle not included)

Remember to practice your secret handshakes and British accent throughout the night as well. Oh – and don’t forget the oreos and peanut butter!

What you need: Camp Walden T-Shirt, Shorts, White Socks, White Sneakers

Your Hogwarts House

Still waiting on my letter to Hogwarts over here… The Hogwarts school uniform complete with house cape has become a globally recognized costume since 1997. Show your school spirit by representing your assigned house this Halloween. Don’t forget your broom, and money for a good butter beer while you’re out!

This costume can easily be put together with a simple skirt, white button down, black heels, school colored tie, and your choice of Hogwarts gear. Now for the most important question. Are you a Griffendor, Ravenclaw, Slitherin, or Hufflepuff?

What you need: Tie, Black Skirt, White Button Down, White Socks, Black Pumps, Wand

Hopefully at least one of these costumes speaks to you! Regardless, have a confident, fun and safe Halloween this year my lovelies 😉
